This is going to be a sort of unusual Stumpside. Instead of writing my thoughts and opinions on something I’m going to talk about le Minecraft server.
Some of you may already know that I’ve been trying to set up a Minecraft server for about a year now. I’ve been delayed by comically unforeseeable events until now, and I’ve now got almost everything ready, I’m just trying to fix one last error so that I can actually launch the server (more on that in a second).
My intention is for this to be a private(ish) server for some irl friends of mine, plus you guys. I have 512 gigs of system RAM (lol) so I can host quite a few people on the server, although I would prefer to have resources allocated towards maintaining giant factories (which is what Create is all about).
Modpack Information
[NOTE: this is outdated information. This modpack is still available for download but it is not the one we use on the server anymore. See addendum for details.]
You can download and play the modpack if you have the Technic launcher for Minecraft. Just paste the following link into the searchbar in the launcher and you can download it:
https://www.technicpack.net/modpack/blood-and-steam-forge-1192.1993867
Afterwards just click play via the launcher and you’re good to go.
Like I said, the Create mod is the main mod in the pack but it’s not the only one. I’ve added some QoL mods, and few other things. Modpack is on 1.19.2 btw. Highlights are:
Self explanatory. Create giant artillery pieces that function with the Create mod.
Guns anf gunsmithing powered by Create.
Clockwork: Create x Valkyrien Skies
Combined with Eureka! this adds in airships which work with the Create mod. Mostly compatible with Create Big Cannons.
Server Information
[NOTE: this is outdated information. The server is now live and running Windows. See addendum for details.]
As I said, currently the server is not fully functional. I’m like literally 99% of the way there, but for some reason the server shuts down after a few seconds whenever I host via the actual server, but it works just fine if I host off of my PC.
I’m running the server off of MineOS, which is built off Ubuntu. I’m fairly certain the issue is with MineOS, since Forge and the mods are all working properly, and the server only encounters issues when launched via MineOS. I’m looking into fixes for that, but if that fails I will just do a clean install of Windows 10 and use that instead, since I’m more familiar with it.
If any of you think you could help with that, DM me.
Regardless, the server should be up and running sometime this weekend, even if it means I have to do a clean install.
[NOTE: this is outdated information. The server is now live and the modpack has been changed. See addendum for details.]
Right now I’m just curious how many of you would be interested (and capable) of joining.
As a reminder, it’s running 1.19.2 Minecraft with about 60 mods. By all means it is a “small” modpack but virtually all of the mods installed are pretty demanding, especially in the late game. So I don’t recommend joining unless you have an actual gaming computer or something.
I don’t plan on modifying the modlist substantially for the time being, unless a majority of you want a certain mod. That being said, there are a few mods that are in closed development that I’m keeping my eye on. Namely: Create Aeronautics (basically a better[?] version of Clockwork) and Create: Mecha Mayhem which adds giant modular mech suits. Again both are in closed development and do not have official release dates, so it will likely be a while before I update the modpack.
Any updates will be very simple for you guys though, all you have to do is update via Technic.

Addendum
The server is now officially live and running an updated modpack which is now available on CurseForge. The modlist remains more or less the same, though it is much bigger. The highlights are still guns, artillery, airships, etc. with the addition of the ability to make tanks and cars now. Performance is actually extremely good.
It’s the same premise as before: steampunk style faction wars. Wars have rules though so that we don’t lose any progress, that way we can get really advanced and have airship battles without glassing each other back to the stone age every weekend.

IN ORDER TO JOIN THE SERVER, YOU WILL NEED TO DM ME SO THAT I CAN WHITELIST YOU, OR JOIN THE DISCORD LINK ABOVE.
The server is whitelist only but I’m not really picky about who joins unless I just don’t know you.
This modpack requires about 8 gigs of RAM to run (same as most games on Steam) so if you have 16 gigs of RAM I don’t recommend playing a singleplayer world because it may perform poorly. If you join the server, this shouldn’t be an issue because the server will take most of the load off your PC.
This is a very new world, only a few days old, with 2 factions so far. You can either join an existing faction or create a new one (for the time being anyway).
Updates are pretty regular at the moment, mainly due to the necessity of critical bug fixes/hotfixes that are discovered over the course of natural gameplay. I plan on slowing updates down when possible, but updates are not really intrusive on your end and server downtime is minimal.
