Reviewbrah was actually the inspiration for making this series of posts. Specifically, it was one of Layne A. Jackson’s posts where he said:
“So, you shouldn’t be hanging out with ‘funko pop’ weird guys. Try ‘good hearted but mildly autistic and a little strange’ guys. I’m envisioning the ‘boys raised by the grandparents’ demographic”1
Now, I could have SWORN he specifically mentioned Reviewbrah after saying this but I went to that article to copy that quote and I don’t see Reviewbrah mentioned anywhere in the article. I think this is some sort of conspiracy to make me look like a FOOL in front of my FRIENDS and will be exacting my revenge on Layne accordingly, but that is neither here nor there.
ANYWAY, when Layne said this I immediately thought of Reviewbrah (BECAUSE LAYNE MENTIONED HIM IN THE ARTICLE!!!!!!!!) and how this was not really Reviewbrah’s entire story.
See, I am a Romantic. I should really write an article about this at some point, but I am very big on Romanticism. It is probably the most defining aspect of my intellectual and emotional psyche and pretty much nobody knows about this. Essentially: I am deeply interested in people in a way that very few others are. I like to digest the essence of a person; to distil them in to their baser forms and to analyze their Geist. It is a special treasure when I find one who is archetypal in nature, and I would say that Reviewbrah is once such person.
I would do horrible, heinous, stomach-churning things to someone if Reviewbrah was ever hurt. He is an innocent soul and a Man Against Time in a way that is more authentic than any TradCon/AnPrim could ever hope to be.
Okay, enough pontificating.. for now… As with all such entries in this series (still haven’t though of a name for them, maybe Stumpside Spotlight? Leave opinions in comments below) I will include some viewing material that I believe is particularly important in understanding our subject. In this case, however, I think it is particularly important that you watch all of these videos so that you and I are on the same page.
You straight up need to watch the entire “My Average Day” playlist on his channel. I don’t care that they are all about an hour long, I don’t care that there are 6 of them, these are perhaps the most important videos you will ever watch in your ENTIRE LIFE!!!!
It is also important to note that Reviewbrah’s (I am going to start calling him John now since his name is John Jurasek) actual passion isn’t his food reviews. He’s talked about it a number of times, but his food reviews are really only for the money. They are his most popular content and he enjoys making them (he is very adamant on making food reviews which are appealing and useful to the average person) but his true passion is in radio hosting (his degree in in communications btw). So the other thing I would highly recommend picking one of his recorded radio shows on his second YouTube channel VORW Podcast (or tune in to one of his broadcasts when they are on air if you are a REAL PATRIOT). I’m not going to tell you a specific video since that would be inauthentic and that would compromise the integrity of the analysis. But you should definitely watch at least one.
Ok, since all of my subbies are good goys and have all watched all of the recommended (required) viewing material, we will proceed.
As you all know (because you watched all of those videos), John is eccentric but it’s not like he’s some autistic tradlarper who wants a full reset to the 1950s. Everything about him is authentic and naturally, not forced. His suits are from the 80s/90s because he likes the style, he does his hair like people did in the 20s, he listens to modern music and classic rock, and he eats a lot of fast food. As I mentioned before, he is a big fan of radio and has his own radio station. On his radio shows he does everything from the typical mailbag readings you hear on mainstream radio, to in-depth coverage of international politics/news, to more vlog/podcast coverage of his daily life. So everything he does is really sort of a hodgepodge of a dozen different decades more than it is a fixation on one particular era, which shows how organic it is.
Despite all this, I think I would say that if you were to pick some average joe from the past century, they would probably have more in common with John than you or I.
I say that because John is in a mental state which is much closer to Americana than contemporary Weimerica. He isn’t neurotic about social media like most people, in fact he doesn’t seem to use it outside of promoting his YouTube channels and radio show. He’s also more politically aware than the average person today. You would think that hearing someone on the radio who is “concerned about growing conflict in the Baltics” would only happen in like the 40s/50s but it’s a pretty regular topic on his show. He’s also much more politically moderate than people today, more akin to what was common in the past century. He’s not really happy with the state of American politics on either side, but he also makes it clear that he believes in the American system and all that. His political views, both domestic and abroad, are also much more balanced than what is typical of today. For example, he doesn’t characterize someone like Putin as Hitler 2.0 nor as a crusader against the decadent West (LOL) like a lot of people do today.
That’s why I say he’s an innocent soul and a Man Against Time more than any of us could probably ever be. I think he’s something of a litmus test for the way things should be. John is archetypal of what the Man Against Time actually is. He’s not trying to deliberately go against time like a tradlarper, it just comes naturally to him that he is at odds with many aspects of contemporary society.
Due to the election cycle and some of the recent drama surrounding it, the next vote will be between John Doyle and Nick Fuentes.
